Grow with me

A gardening dream in WV

About Me

Growing up in Baltimore County, Maryland, my gardening experiences were limited to visiting a pumpkin farm, my aunt’s horse farm, and the veggie garden at my grandparents’ house.

I can remember helping my grandfather pull rocks out of the garden, and helping my grandmother snap green beans and shell peas. It may not be what the cool kids do today (or really what they did back in the day for that matter), but it was fun to me. Fun in a sense that I felt like I was helping and doing a good job.

I never would have guessed that I would have my very own garden in a small town in West Virginia, where I get to share my passion for gardening and create garden to table meals!

It is an amazing feeling to plant seeds and watch them grow to transform them into nutritious dishes to share with family and friends.

And now, I get to share it all with you!

Outside of the gardening world, I have always been a dog lover from a very young age. There was only a few blips of time throughout my entire life where I did not have a canine companion. As I get older, my dogs seem to get smaller. I have always had medium to large size dogs, but then my husband brought Pugs into my life, starting with our first Pug, Smokey. Smokey was THE MOST mellow dog I have ever had. All he ever wanted was to be with me and lay on my lap.

Today, we have two beautiful Pugs, Mongo and Baxter. They may not be mellow, but they love to be with their humans and each other. This is my dedication to them.

Mongo and Baxter are the Pug loves of my life!

Pugs are known as “multum in parvo,” meaning, much in a little. And that description matches my two fur babies, who are filled to the brim with personality. They have trained me well and rule my world.

Mongo loves

  • Playing with his baby
  • Playing “knuckle sandwiches”
  • Eating crunchies and munchies
  • Help Mommy workout
  • Treat puzzle toys
  • Bartering leaves, sticks, mulch, and rocks for treats
  • Walks around the neighborhood
  • Going to doggie day camp
  • Romping through the raised beds in the garden
  • Watching puppy YouTube videos

Baxter loves

  • Playing and sleeping with Mongo
  • Chasing Mongo around the house and yard (lightning-speed chasing)
  • Playing fetch with toys and balls
  • Eating strawberries out of the garden
  • Chewing bones
  • Chasing birds
  • Going for walks
  • Running the neighbor’s fence to play with their dog
  • Eating treats, baby carrots, green beans… eating EVERYTHING!
  • And giving lots of love as a little licking factory!

These little co-workers are always here to remind me that the present is a great place to be.
